It serves as additional therapy for people after stroke, with Morbus Parkinson, multiple sclerosis, skull brain trauma or incomplete spine paralysis. In several clinical studies was shown that patients who received the treadmill therapy could improve their ability to walk.
The principle of the treadmill therapy is based on the plasticity of the brain and spine. The brain is able to build new nerve connections after an injury and learn. For that, the central nervous system needs a corresponding sensory stimulation. The significant stimulation is here the contact of the heels and stretching of the hips. Physiotherapists can also specifically support the walking process. Depending on the degree of severity of the paralysis, the treadmill offers the opportunity to partially relieve the body weight with a special belt system.
